SERVPRO Supports Men's Health Awareness
5/4/2017 (Permalink)
April is national Testicular Cancer awareness month. Our team has joined Anne Arundel County Professional Firefighters, Local 1563 who have been selling t-shirts since 2013, and raised over $26,000 for the DeCesaris Cancer Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. The Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, regional leader in cancer care that includes the latest in prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment. Many different types of cancer specialists collaborate and contribute to the care of the patients. SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian supported the cause by wearing the blue shirts on Fridays in April.
It is not talked about often but, testicular cancer, the leading cancer in men 15-44, can strike at any age, yet it's hardly talked about. When detected early, it has a survival rate of over 95%. It is important to raise awareness to help save lives. For more information check out DeCesaris Cancer Institute.
