Here at SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian, we love our pets as much as we love getting emergency calls. These winter weather walks can be hazardous for your pet so here is some advice from our franchise:  

Exposure to winter’s cold, dry air and chilly precipitation can cause chapped paws and itchy, flaking skin for your pet. In addition to this, winter walks can become outright dangerous if your pet licks chemicals from ice-melting substances off its paws.  

• Keep your home humidified and dry your pets when they come inside to avoid itchy skin. 
• Never shave your dog in the winter. Instead, go for a short trim until the weather warms up. 
• Bathe your pets as little as possible during freezing weather. 
• Applying petroleum jelly or using booties could help protect your pet’s paws.

First, our owner, Diane Whittles, has owned successful franchises in Anne Arundel County since the 1970’s. In September of 2020, she expanded the business by purchasing SERVPRO of Glen Burnie with her son, Nick. 

Nick Whittles was “born” into the SERVPRO business. As a teenager, he worked many Summers and part-time as a technician. He drove trucks to emergencies and performed restoration work through many storms including Hurricane Sandy.  After Nick graduated from college, 6 years ago, he joined the team fulltime.

Do you know each SERVPRO franchise is independently owned and operated? The SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian franchise is owned by Diane Whittles. Diane has spent her entire life in Anne Arundel County, and is proud of the business she created.

One candle caused a fire

The national slogan for SERVPRO® is "Like it never even happened." At SERVPRO® of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian, we embodied this tagline with the work we performed at an Edgewater property fire. Not only did we mitigate the fire and water damage, we also reconstructed the property.

This house fire was started by one candle. The fire ripped through this family's home causing a significant amount of physical damage to four rooms. Fortunately, the family was unharmed physically. Firefighters stopped the fire, but left behind water damage. The water damage became a secondary loss for the home. This fire ended up being a large insurance loss, but the good news is that SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian was asked by the insured to mitigate the fire as well as reconstruct the damaged rooms in the property.

SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian specializes in fire and water restoration. We’ve received advance training in restoration techniques, and we have the experience and specialized equipment to quickly restore your property.
